You Have Inspired Me
=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=
I watched my mother’s face for signs of delight, as the surprise marching band approached her house to help celebrate her 80th birthday.
Sounds of “Down by the Riverside” curled across the lawn and my mom exclaimed,” “Oh My!”
Then she sang and laughed, and there was waltzing on the lawn, and 60 people spilled out of the house to eat salad
and sandwiches and homemade custard ice cream.
As the band played “You Are My Sunshine,” someone said, “Look what you have done for your Mother!” and I replied,
“No, look at what she has inspired.”
She inspired me to help create that scene. Her spirit encouraged the participation of every person there. I learned so much about laughter and flowers, and filling hearts with color, from my mom.
As she moves closer to the end of her life, I am acutely aware of how much life she gave me, and gives me.
It causes me to say to you:
THINK ABOUT WHAT AND WHO YOU ARE INSPIRING
And not just with your joy or colors, but with your ability to hold pain, and to listen…
Often, we live our lives not realizing how we are inspiring to others.
I invite you to ask someone this question:
“Do I inspire you? How?”
Let the answers surprise and fill you.
Now, let someone know how they inspire you.
I would like to say to every endearing soul reading these words, that
you have inspired me for the last year and a half of writing these
e letters. I feel your energy as I write these words. Thank you also
for inspiring me with your responses.
To every member of my Marvelous Message Board, you have created a true
community, which touches and teaches me deeply. I am so honored by your
creative contributions. Your truth-telling, compassionate witnessing,
and playing, inspire me.
To every person who has posted on the Glorious Guestbook, your words
inspire me. Thank you also to those who sent messages for my brother
Andrew. I printed out about 200 of those messages and taped them together
to make a long trail of words, in honor of his Spring 2004 Pacific Crest
trail hike. He loved reading them.
My creative business team, who work so beautifully on a virtual basis.
You inspire me to keep creating! I am very inspired by Anne, Andrea,
Tammi, David, Debra, Mary Ann, Nicole, Larry, Leslie, Irving, Marc,
Patricia and Val.
I am continually inspired by my dear friends, who tell their truth,
hear mine, and also make me laugh. You fill me up from the inside
with your light.
I am inspired by the spirit of Katharine Hepburn, who is now free to
be a part of everything.
I am inspired by my cat, Jupiter, who once told me clearly,
“My only job is to be a cat.”
