So there I was, standing on a dirt pile on the border of Mexico and the United States, sending off my brother Andrew, who was about to begin his 2,650-mile hike of the Pacific Crest Trail. He gave me permission to tell you that he procrastinated about preparing for this journey. In fact, he had been totally sedentary for four months, playing a computer game many hours per day. He didn't train, he didn't "do all the right things," but here he was with a 60-pound backpack about to begin this hike -- one of his creative dreams. He said "tell people you can do more things badly." As it turned out, he hiked 180 miles of the trail and loved it. Then his ankles began to hurt, and he reassessed his physical ability to hike the twenty-plus miles per day. He realized that he could actually do it, but it would cause damage to his body, so he opted out.

Creative dreams change all the time. I am usually initially very resistant to change. Here's an example: My chiropractor has been located near my house for over a year, and then she announced that she was moving to a new location. I had a temper tantrum lying down on the table at hearing this news. Because I know her well, I felt free to express all my emotions about the change. I think I called her a "big stupid head." | ||||
| I reluctantly went to her new location, using a map she drew me "with love" (I'm directionally challenged), and absolutely loved the new place. Then I went down the street to a new cafe my friend Andrea told me about, called Cafe Gratitude. It's the cafe I would have, if I had a cafe. You order all the food (which is live and organic) by using affirmations, and at every table is an abundance game called the Abounding River. It's become a deeply favorite spot, and owners Matthew and Terces and I are hosting a "Succulent Summer Supper" and celebration of my new book on June 6 (more details below). I always see that change is for the better in some way. I just get frustrated that I can't see it right away! I wish we could have some kind of pop-up feature in our lives that would instantly appear to reassure us: "Hey, your chiropractor is moving to a better place with a cafe right down the street that you are going to love." I guess we need to be our own pop-up feature for ourselves and have faith in the utter consistency of change and how it always changes! We are being divinely guided and led, even if we don't know how it all works. Ultimately we can only be here NOW anyway and ride all the changes like big glorious (and sometimes scary) waves. I intend to keep finding the gifts in the changes and sharing those gifts. Sending you love, Susan |

"Make Your Creative Dreams REAL: A Plan for Procrastinators, Perfectionists, Busy People, and People Who Would Really Rather Sleep All Day" is in stores now. I'm so thrilled with this book -- it helps us make our creative dreams real even while we continue to procrastinate, be busy, sleep all day, and practice perfectionism. This program fits in with our actual lives, not the ones we sometimes pretend to have. My new book is the featured book this month at Planet SARK. In the monthly book feature you can find out why I wrote this book, see my personal look inside including an excerpt from the book, and get an extra tidbit in a personal story called "The Finest of Evenings." Click here to review the monthly book feature on Planet SARK. I also just completed a national radio tour across the United States, and soon you'll be able to hear those interviews as MP3s on my Websight. I have two favors to ask you: 1. If you're reading the book and enjoying it, please post a message in my Glorious Guestbook that we can use to inspire book sales. 2. If you are reading/working with the book, please post a review at Amazon This really helps! Thank you so kindly. Juicy Living Cards I partnered with Hay House (Louise Hay's company) to create 50 thick, luminous, color-soaked cards, which have inspiring art and encouraging words on both sides. Their purpose is to remind you that you are JUICY, no matter how opposite of that you might be feeling. You can pick one for the day, or week, or just randomly. These cards will illuminate your spirit and support your soul. These inspirational cards can be found on Planet SARK. |

I'll be doing several events in June. They're all free and I'd love to meet you. These are lively, interactive events (introverts are especially welcomed) with a book-signing party at the end.
A VERY SPECIAL INVITATION
I invite you to join me at Cafe Gratitude for a "Succulent Summer Supper" and book-signing party. At this intimate event we'll eat delicious live organic food and I'll be moving from table to table to meet and talk with all of you. My new book and some of the other titles will be available for purchasing, and I will happily personalize them. Seating is limited to only 50 people. Advance tickets are $15, which includes a beverage, salad, and live organic pizza or lasagna. Call Cafe Gratitude to reserve a seat with your credit card.
