Exquisite Greetings to You,

When I created my new book "Make Your Creative Dreams REAL,” I made it “A Plan for Procrastinators, Perfectionists, Busy People, and People Who Would Really Rather Sleep All Day" because these are the subjects that stop me most often. How do we keep going with our creative dreams when life feels really hard, chaotic, overwhelming, or just too full to do one more thing?

Lately, my inner perfectionist has been very active, and I had this idea that I could just club her to death. Yes, it is a “violent” solution, but I felt that nothing else was working, and it provided some humorous relief. Then my friend Joshua called and asked me to club his perfectionist to death, too. I had to tell him that his wouldn’t die! This gave us a great start to a long, deep conversation about perfectionism and the ego and overwhelm, and our creative dreams.

I know that sharing our process and experience about what stops us is one of the most powerful ways to realize what isn’t stopping us. This allows us to find new perspectives about how to “Bloom Differently” and focus on things that help us to grow.

This is why I am so thrilled with our creative community on PlanetSARK. People are really connecting and transforming, using all of the community features (which are detailed below). I love posting here, too, and I am receiving all the transformative benefits. I am personally inviting you to join us!

There is also value in sharing what stops us and not trying to “hurry up” and change it. I use my “Ask Jupiter” feature on PlanetSARK.com a lot, and the other day got this message: “Sit with sadness.”

quote

My cat Jupiter has been diagnosed recently with a serious digestive disease. We’re doing all of the necessary research, holistic care and treatment, and there could be considerable improvement and even a cure. He’s “of a certain age,” but very healthy otherwise. Just now though, it’s sad, and it’s stopped me in many ways.

Over the years, Jupiter has really helped me to experience unconditional love and really grow into myself as a person. He would like people to know that he’s ageless and that he is living his spiritual journey. Thank you, also, to the Marvelous Message Board members for their incredibly supportive posts about this.

So how do I write, paint, and create at the times when my dear Jupiter is lying still and hot and quiet?

I can give myself permission to stop and be fully present to what is REAL in my life right now. Our real lives are full of these kinds of challenges and living creatively is the best way to live fully with the “real stuff” of life which sometimes can feel hard, chaotic, and overwhelming.

Of course, we can avoid the challenges too! Avoidance works well for certain periods of time.

I think if we can lose track of what stops us and learn to respond with our creative selves, to whatever life is bringing us, we will be “fierce with reality” (Florida Scott Maxwell).

Sending you love,

Susan (a.k.a. SARK)

Never Good Enough
by Monica Ramirez Basco
This is the book that I crossed out the word “never” in the title so it just says “Good Enough.” Great program for identifying which type of perfectionist you might be, and how to make incremental simple changes. It shows you your progress within the book, too.

The Grace in Dying
by Kathleen Dowling Singh
A beautiful book about how to think differently about dying as we are living.

SUCCULENT WILD WOMEN Audio Book

This audio book was personally read by SARK in 1997. SARK encourages and inspires women of all ages to become "succulent." She defines this as transcending past pains and feeling the freedom of full self-expression. Very candidly she shares the tragic, the glorious, the intimate, and the adventurous in her life, dispensing sage advice and a lengthy menu of readily doable suggestions for arousing creativity and nurturing self-discovery. Bubbly, humorous, and at times just far-out, SARK is enjoyable to listen to.

SARK says: “I loved making this recording!”

JUICY LIVING CARDS
SARK partnered with Hay House (Louise Hay's company) to create 50 thick, luminous, color-soaked cards, which have inspiring art and encouraging words on both sides. Their purpose is to remind you that you are JUICY, no matter how opposite of that you might be feeling. You can pick one for the day, or week, or just randomly. These cards will illuminate your spirit and support your soul.

SARK says “I had so much fun giving these cards at each SARK event. Here’s a suggestion: Mail a card to a friend. Ask them to pass it on. If you can’t part with the actual card, then mail a card to yourself!”

These inspirational cards can be found on our website.

MEMORIES OF THE SUCCULENT SUPPER AT CAFÉ GRATITUDE

For everyone who wasn’t at the Café Gratitude event, I send you this memory of our time:

Imagine a glowing spot called Café Gratitude, where the time is always now. There is fresh organic food, brightly colored flowers, and endearing people preparing and serving the food.

Lovely music plays in the background, and there are splashes of sunlight on the wood floors.

A group of bright-faced laughing people are gathering outside as Vanessa (my God Child) and I set up. We put a Juicy Living Card at each place and other small gifts. Vanessa is wearing a short black skirt that says on the back, “Save your drama for your mama.”

The café fills with marvelous people wearing big smiles. I make nametags for everyone, and every seat is filled. Love floats throughout the evening.

We shall do this again. I hope to see you there. Thank you to Matthew and Terces.

Featured Guest Title

I’m so moved by Pure Waterfall’s wisdom, self-love, and generous spirit. Her presence on the Marvelous Message Board has truly contributed to everyone’s creative dream growth. I had intended to edit her answers to my questions, but there was so much good stuff. I simply couldn’t!

SARK: What are your creative dreams, and which one(s) are you focused on now?

Pure WaterfallPURE WATERFALL: I have always been a dreamer. Ideas cascade over me in a torrent of pictures, words and concepts sometimes to the point of keeping me up at night. I love to dream creatively!! Some of my current dreams are to: Capture Life's Gifts, I want to experience and play more with cameras, photographs speak to me, now I need a good camera; Write Life's Wonders, beyond imagination, beyond thought, beyond pictures or words lives the soul of the writer...to write...aaahhhh...to write and to get paid for it; Mold Life’s Essence, pottery as an art form touches a deep part of my soul; Love Life’s Givers, my purpose in life is to empower women and my dream is to bring this to a global level and create major changes in underdeveloped, war torn, countries by uniting women around the world to support each other in practical ways such as providing literacy, business skills, leadership training and other much needed skills.

Recently, I am focused on my health. I have things that need to be addressed so I can have the energy to manifest my dreams. When I realized the effect my poor health was having on all my dreams, becoming healthy became my dream!

SARK: In general, how have SARK books helped you, and specifically how has “Make Your Creative Dreams REAL” helped you?

squigglyPURE WATERFALL: I could fill a book about how SARK books and posters have helped me over the past 7-8 years. They have helped me accept myself, grow, find my beauty and love my life. They have been with me as a constant source of encouragement, solace and inspiration through divorce, moving, returning to school at age 34, major injuries, surgery, depression, family crisis, healing and much more.

I was looking forward to the new book as I look forward to all of SARK's new books but I didn't know what it would do for me. I scanned through the new book and got an overview of the concepts and am now working through it as it is laid out. I am so amazed at the changes I've already seen in myself!

For the past 7 months, I have been on medication for depression and anxiety that I have been fighting for many years. I have been working with health care professionals with this and other medical issues I've been having. During my depression, I lost sight of my dreams and was having a difficult time believing that I had any. When I first got the book, I thought, "What a great concept, but I don't know what my dreams are." But, I began the process of working through the book to see if I could find some new ones or resurrect some old ones. I was astounded! With the combination of the book and the Creative Dream Team forum of Planet Sark, I began to get in touch with some dreams that very day! In the few weeks that followed, I began to get in touch with things that inspired me to make some huge changes in my life...in the form of micro-movements.

I have given myself permission to work through the book as it is laid out, month by month. I am only into the second month and I have literally come full circle already! I have not only discovered new dreams and resurrected old ones; I have clarified what is most important to me right now, and have begun to work on my barriers to my dreams. I had an epiphany one night and realized that some of my main barriers were actually dreams in themselves, having to do with health in all aspects of my being. This has become my Real Dream ~ Health in all areas; physical, mental, emotional, sexual, financial, spiritual, social, creative...

I have decided to work through the book month to month because I have a tendency to be unstructured, to take on too much and be a perfectionist & a procrastinator. This book is helping with it all. I can have structure for each month, a general theme to think about...and I can take it slowly, do it badly and not be perfect but still do it!

I have "claimed" this book as my own. I have coloured in it, put stickers in it and written in the margins. I don't usually do this to books but SARK's books invite you to. This is not a book I would pass on or lend to someone; it is like buying a journal; it is mine! I would, instead buy it FOR someone...I already have a few people in mind!

SARK: Are there places you get stuck with your dreams? Please describe.

PURE WATERFALL: I’m one of those people who are great out of the starting gate and then peter-out as soon as the rush is over. I love to start things but I’m equally excited to start the next thing causing the original idea to get lost in the shuffle. I love the research stage and the presentation stage but when it comes to the money or follow-through stage I have a hard time selling myself and completing things. I also fight with low energy. My current ambition is to determine how much of my physical trouble is causing mental angst and visa versa. My self-questioning is about how much I attribute to low energy that is actually procrastination.

SARK: Do you have any question(s) for me about creative dreams?

PURE WATERFALL: I question my micro-movements sometimes…are they too micro? Do you have any thoughts on that?

SARK: I don’t believe that there’s such a thing as “too micro” unless there’s an aspect of yourself that is “pushing” you to go faster and do more. There’s lots of good information about this at VoiceDialogue.com as it relates to our “inner critics.”

SARK: What advice would you like to give others about creative dreams?

PURE WATERFALL: In Canada, where I live, there is an election coming up. I have been thinking a lot about the women who sacrificed their pride, reputations and sometimes their lives so that we could vote. Less than 100 years ago, women were not allowed to vote. Imagine how much creative dreaming, teamwork, and collective support it must have taken. Imagine what you may be able to accomplish if you voice your dreams and work together to fulfil them. I challenge you to voice your dreams, to ask for support and to support others, always in all ways!
