Dear Creative Soul, When I was a little girl, bursting with stories to tell, my grandfather (he was my mom's dad, and we called him "Boppa") encouraged me to keep a journal and to put on performances about what I'd seen and experienced on the family trips he sent us on. That gift is one of my inheritances from him, as I now continue to share my stories and experiences with the world. When my mom died on October 8, 2003, his legacy to her turned into my inheritance. I invested this inheritance in the development and launch of my new websight, PlanetSARK.com. I envisioned an online creative community that would assist people in making their creative dreams REAL. This vision was made real with the help of the remarkably talented people on the Planet SARK Development Team known as the "WebSpinners". You can click here to see how they have all contributed to make the websight of my dreams happen.

I know that my mom and grandfather would be so proud of our "creative community built from the heart" that is overflowing with creative energy and creative dreams being made REAL and people connecting with spirit and succulence. |

When I started my business in 1989 and then founded my company, Camp SARK, in 1993, the company was dedicated to creating products to inspire creative living and to support me in creating more art and words. We did this beautifully, creating hundreds of products and also free services like "creative toolkits." In 1998 we launched CampSARK.com, which remained free and available for everyone. The company needed to restructure in 2000, in part because the company spent more on overhead than it made. It's also curious that providing free services costs money! I've learned a lot about business since 1993. Mostly, I've learned that my business needs to make money so that I can make more art and books! I spent the next few years helping to care for my mom in Minnesota and writing three more books. Meanwhile, my creative dream and larger vision of a new company that could provide products and services to inspire creative living kept growing. In May 2004 we introduced Planet SARK, a new company in tandem with Camp SARK, and we launched our new websight, PlanetSARK.com. Planet SARK's mission is to promote creative living, thought, and action. We facilitate, encourage, and empower kindred spirits to reach out, connect, and teach each other in the spirit of SARK. Our new company is a swiftly growing fledgling under the wing of Camp SARK, in need of support and time to grow, and to create more products to inspire creative living. Since May, we have launched a new products and licensing division, designed and published our marketing and support materials including a media kit, and we are creating a new asset management system to archive my artwork which will be used to create exciting new product lines.
You can see many of our upcoming products under "Planet SARK News" below. Part of our new business strategy consists of working with a small team of consultants, working "virtually" from their home offices. To minimize overhead costs, many of these professionals have donated their time and agreed to defer income, to allow time for all of our plans to become REAL. We are also partnering with select "kindred spirit" companies to help sponsor our website and to bring you products and services endorsed by Planet SARK. At this time, we have no plans of introducing bulk advertising. I am committed to only promoting products and services that I myself use or believe in. You will only find companies like these on PlanetSARK.com, and their links will appear in the places where you already see our honorary sponsor, "Marvelous Marjorie".
If my mom was alive, she'd say in her clear, confident voice, "You need to let people know that you need help. They'd want to be asked." Planet SARK needs your assistance so that we can continue to provide the free services and features currently available to our PlanetSARK.com community and to help develop more products that inspire creative living. Here are the ways you can provide support. (Please know your presence and encouraging words are always a contribution.) The websight traffic on PlanetSARK.com has nearly doubled in size since this past May, and we look forward to more growth! 1) Shop in the eShop Buying SARK books and products through our eShop directly supports Planet SARK. 2) Subscribe as a "Society of SARK" Member The Society of SARK is a loosely formed society of independent, creative, succulent people. I'm going to let our Managing Director, Tammi Riedl, explain the membership benefits, but I must take a moment to exclaim about what we call Web Space. You essentially have your own personal space on PlanetSARK.com where you can make your creative dreams REAL with the Community Dreamcatcher. You also have a permanent place for your Biography, an Image Gallery to showcase your favorite photos and artwork, and an online Journal (blog) to write daily, weekly, or whenever you are inspired. Your Journal can be private, or you can choose to make it public. There's a little orange icon next to each member's name to let you know they have a Web Space. You can click on these icons to find out more about the other people on PlanetSARK.com. We asked our members what they think about having their own Web Space on PlanetSARK.com. Here's what they say:
3) Make a Financial Contribution as a "Society of SARK"Sponsor Please know that any size or shape of contribution is welcome and valuable. I am reminded of an enchanted spot in San Francisco called the Filbert Steps. It is a remarkable garden started in one little container by a woman named Grace Marchant. It was her creative dream. At one point, the land was about to be sold to developers for high-rise buildings. The creators and appreciators of the gardens got together and sold square inches of the garden for $10 each (I bought one), and we raised enough money to buy the land and keep it as a garden forever. In that spirit, I will think of each of your contributions as intrinsic parts of the gardens on PlanetSARK.com. I deeply thank and acknowledge you in advance for your support and kindness. I am thrilled to continue creating new art and words and to inspire even more creative living, thought, and action. Your Very Dear, SARK (a.k.a. Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy)

A WEBSPINNER'S TOUR OF PLANETSARK.COM By Tammi Riedl Typing with a bird on your head is interesting. I have a beautiful and sweet little Lutino tiel named Lily, who must have been taken from the nest a bit too early because she insists on spending all of her "free" time on the top of my head, preening her feathers and mine. |
Lily sings "Old McDonald Had a Farm" and says "Pretty girl", and is most inspired to sing her best and loudest when I'm having a phone meeting with SARK. She hears us laughing and wants to be in on the fun. I've been told "she" might be a "he" because of her vocal talents, but not wanting to disappoint her big brother Dominic, we still call her Miss Lil. You can meet Lily in my Web Space right here. So after giving you a little peek into my world, where I work as a business consultant from my home, it's time to put Lily in her condo so I can get down to telling you about the exciting things that are happening on PlanetSARK.com. We are thrilled to be announcing many new additions to our website this month, including the "Society of SARK" member and sponsor programs. The PlanetSARK.com website was initially funded by SARK's inheritance from her mother. We intend to repay this loan from SARK so that she can do something really special for herself. Most information and community-based websites serve bulk ads to generate revenue to cover their development and maintenance costs. If you go to our forums, you will NOT see any bulk ads because it is very important to Planet SARK that we maintain the integrity of the spiritual look and feel of our website. Therefore, the development budget for ongoing design, technical maintenance, bandwidth, and server costs relies solely on the revenue from the subscriptions of our paying members. Now here's the part where I'm going to let you know how YOU can help: We invite you to become a subscribing member or to contribute any amount to support the development of the free services, tools, and new features provided for our creative community on PlanetSARK.com. The PlanetSARK.com "Society of SARK" Programs provide two ways for you to contribute.

The PlanetSARK.com WebSpinner's picks for September/October 2004 This month we have selected a few members who are using all of the features in their Web Space to showcase their lives, creative dreams, artwork, and writing. All very beautifully done!
Congratulations and thanks to all of you for creatively sharing yourselves in our community! Here's what a few more of our members had to say about their Web Space: "I like having a place to call my own...
it's fun adding my pictures and trying to make the Web Space reflect my
style etc. I use it to post my bio, so that other MMBers can know some
background info on me. Also to post pictures of me and other important
parts of my life. Anyone who has a creative dream should sign up... it's
a neat way to put it out to the universe." "PlanetSARK is an ideal environment for
the creative person to showcase his or her talent. The audience is made
up of creative, progressive-thinking people who encourage and crave artistic
expression." View all of our community members' Web Spaces
