Dear Grace-Filled One,

Dogs frolic unleashed on a beach that's near where I live. I love witnessing their freedom and pure dog joy. It is also good for me to be near dogs that are not acting territorial because I sometimes feel afraid of dogs. I grew up living with and loving dogs, and I was also bitten as a child by neighbors' dogs. I've studied this fear in me and have made great improvements. Still, residual fear gets awakened.

On this sunny day recently, I was walking at the beach, talking to my vet, who was telling me that my cat Jupiter's health issues had progressed and that I had decisions to make about his care. I was crying and walking, barely feeling the sand under my feet. From a distance, I noticed a VERY large dog, standing with a man, bolt away and run directly and very rapidly straight towards me.

Fear rose up in my throat for an instant, and, all of a sudden, I was aware that my cat Jupiter had "sent" this dog to me! In that instant, I felt no fear and waited for the dog to reach me. This huge dog skidded into me and knocked me down, licking my face.

I looked up to see the dog's owner laughing and felt a flash of anger -- I thought he was laughing at me. He rushed forward, explaining, "I'm so sorry! She has never done anything like this -- it's just extremely unusual, and I just don't know what to say."

I sheepishly said, "I know this sounds odd, but I think my cat Jupiter communicated with your dog and asked her to do this."

He looked stunned. "Oh, no, that makes sense to me. She's very intuitive and just loves cats."

As he helped me up, I petted his dog and said, "by the way, what's her name?"

He smiled and replied: "Her name is Grace."

It wasn't until I walked away that I realized I had been knocked down by Grace!

Jupiter and I are navigating this journey together with love. He told me not to be so concerned about his health, that his body was "just a covering with a zipper."

I am learning so much about acceptance and grace, and letting go, from my teacher Jupiter. As I am writing this, he is lying beside me, dying. It is so beautifull and grace-filled to see and feel his spirit moving to a new dimension. I feel honored and gratefull to have known such a creature.

May we all have new experiences of grace each day in our lives. May we open our hearts even further.
